Bridgwater Operatic Society

Formed in 1907, BOS is one of the foremost Amateur Operatic Societies in the West Region, presenting award winning musical comedy of an excellent standard.


Bridgwater Operatic Society

The objectives of the Society are to advance the education of the public in the dramatic and operatic arts and to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the arts.


To promote plays, dramas, comedies, opera, and other dramatic and operatic works of art


To acquire the right to perform any such operatic or dramatic works


To purchase, design, or build scenery, furniture, and all other necessary effects


To do all such other things as shall further the objects of the Society


To raise funds and receive contributions from any person or persons whatsoever by way of subscription, donation, and otherwise, provided the Society shall not undertake any permanent trading activities in raising funds

Anything Goes with music and lyrics by Cole Porter concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy Number 13, “Moonface” Martin, aid Billy in his quest to win Hope. The musical introduces such songs as “Anything Goes”, “You’re the Top”, and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”
